What I liked most is that I had the opportunity listen to professional translators who were willing to share their experience with us. I believe it is much more interesting to listen to people speak from their own experience than read books in theory of translation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Don't get me wrong. I don't deny the importance of the theoretical background a translator should possess. Yet, I think an aspiring translator needs more practice than theory. In order to become a good translator one should practice translation not study it.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">At the opoening of the seminar, Ms. Eleonora Rusnac, the president of the associaiton, gave us a hearty welcome. She has an impressive carrer as a translator. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The first day Ms. Rusnac and Ms. Rufa simulated consecuitive and simultaneous translations. The organizers of the seminar invited two Americans. Ms. Rusnac did the consecutive translation of the official speech delivered by one American (the speach dealt with human rights). Ms. Rufa did the simultanious translation of the financial speech of the other guest. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I was extremely impressed by the professionalism. They did not teach but they actually showed how a professional translation should be done. These two simulations helped me realize what exactly a translator's job consists of and how he behaves.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">I noticed, for example, that in consecuitive translation, the translator was making notes. She also made sure she could see the speaker's face. Simultaneous translation seemed very difficult to do and I had the impression that the translator was very tense. I think this is normal as the translator should understand and translate the speaker's message at one and the same time. Moreover, the translated message should be extremely close if not identical to the original. (Three days later I found out that in simultaneous translation translators work in teams, where one takes the place of the other in 15 - 20 minutes.)</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">At the end od the first meeting another professional translator, Ms. Elena Bivol, spoke on 'Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Translator'.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The next day the younger generation of professional translators gave a presentation on 'Written Translation'. Although there were issues I disagreed, I still found interesting and useful what they had to say. I especially liked the proposed way of evaluating a written translation. They also gave a lot of useful sites a translator may use and they shared their own tips.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Wednesday was dedicated to consecuitive translation, where Ms. Rusnac explained its peculiarities and involved the audience in practical activities. The next day we were taught simultaneous translation step by step. The last day was a great closing of the seminar.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">What I liked at this seminar is that its organizers tried to involve the audience in practical activities. Yet, the participants were too shy and insecure. They were afraid to cut a foolish figure in front of professional translators.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">My belief is that the information got at the seminar together with our persevierence and hard-work will help us become professional translators as well.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-17200037573926631242010-04-04T04:13:00.000-07:002010-04-04T04:17:26.295-07:00HAPPY EASTER!!!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/S7h1Lvxw5MI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/bZ32_S0srnI/s1600/%D0%9D%D0%BE%D0%B2%D1%8B%D0%B9+%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%81%D1%83%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%BA+%281%29.bmp"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 310px; height: 310px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/S7h1Lvxw5MI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/bZ32_S0srnI/s400/%D0%9D%D0%BE%D0%B2%D1%8B%D0%B9+%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%81%D1%83%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%BA+%281%29.bmp" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5456239793223558338" border="0" /></a>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-41016437019601119372010-01-30T11:53:00.000-08:002010-01-30T11:54:10.810-08:00<img src="http://www.logomaker.com/logo-images/b6b74e4ef1f164ae.gif" /><br /><a href="http://www.logoworks.com"><img src="http://www.logomaker.com/images/logos.gif" alt="logos" border="0" /></a>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-59458432157830913492010-01-16T10:53:00.001-08:002010-01-16T10:56:10.209-08:00CALL FOR PAPAERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/S1ILtEVKEwI/AAAAAAAAASo/Y1ehGLmxryE/s1600-h/SDC12313.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/S1ILtEVKEwI/AAAAAAAAASo/Y1ehGLmxryE/s320/SDC12313.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427413369819370242" border="0" /></a>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-692433636392186532009-11-24T12:15:00.000-08:002009-12-06T06:56:11.677-08:00THANKSGIVING!!!<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwSIAMbmrQXJH5dpWCGb9zOUrdr4jDNaRO2Jbxe08JrDrbudohhHgwmKsf9C1o2zdi69CwoEb4JNhyDo7_Kvg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />The above film was made to celebrate Thanksgiving. This is the worst side but the positive side is that it is a great experience. As I'm used working with grown-up kids, getting into contact with 5th grade-students is a real challenge. I made a big discovery it's the same fun. What can I do: teaching is my cup of tea!<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />My biggest problem is that I'm a BIT forgetful, yet even with this handicap I managed to do everything I planned. My girls are the best (one laughed that this is what I always tell, Can't help it, Helen, this is the truth). Each has her own individual style but they all are ver<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/SuH4_t_KU6I/AAAAAAAAAPI/eFKpkecowQQ/s1600-h/SDC11598.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/SuH4_t_KU6I/AAAAAAAAAPI/eFKpkecowQQ/s200/SDC11598.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395867602126525346" border="0" /></a>y responsible and like what they are doing. I think their attitude should be inspiring for many teachers.<br /><br />It's difficult to deal with kids, they are noisy, naughty, but at the same time they are very receptive. They can inspire you, they can make you reconsider many things. The only thing you should have is PATIENCE!<br /><br />This Friday's topic was HOLIDAYS. I thought it's a good continuation of the previous material and a wonderful preparation for HALLOWEEN! Indeed, up till now we covered AUTUMN, SCHOOL, and FRIENDSHIP. So I thought it would be nice to speak about the holidays Americans celebrate in autumn to which they might invite their friends. This lesson was meant to arouse cultural awareness in the pupils' bright minds minds. I thought it's a good continuation for the previous topics. This lesson is meant to encrease cultural awareness in the pupils' young minds. I also hope they will enjoy discovering America together with Columbus, finding out the origins of Halloween and learning the culture of Thanking.<br /><br />In a week we' re going to celebrate HALLOWEEN (it's a kind of preparation). However, as far as I understood I'll have to give money out of my own pocket again to have the trick or treat part. This is terrible. No mun no fun. I was told the money from the project is not allocated for this. But this is cultural specific. Am I wrong? If you explain to the kid what is the significance of Halloween and you are going to sing the trick or treat song, shouldn't you treat the kid?<br /></div>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-9998727470038745232009-10-16T11:27:00.000-07:002009-10-18T07:36:32.595-07:00THE SAME PROJECT WORK<div style="text-align: justify;">This time it was difficult. I don't know but I felt tired. However, we tried and did our best. The girls I worked with were great just like usual. They did everything I wanted and came with wonderful ideas. It's a pleasure working with them. This time we focused on friendship. We sang, danced and, of course, STUDIED. There's always something to learn from those kids and I hope there's something in our meetings that will stay with them forever.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-style: italic;"><br />BEST FRIENDS</span> Moment<br /></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/Sti_CTvN5tI/AAAAAAAAAMc/Fewauoe1fPc/s1600-h/SDC11469.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; It was posted on</span> Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 2:03pm)<span class="pipe"></span></div> </div></div> <div class="note_content text_align_ltr direction_ltr clearfix"> <div><br />Yesterday I went to the local School for Orphan Children to both supervise and take part in a class. It was wonderful. The kids were great, the girls I trained were great. I think it was a success.<br /><br />We thought that our first lesson should be dedicated to autumn. We began our lesson with a surprise element: the magic box. The kids were supposed to ask Yes/No questions in order to find out what was there. The level of English is not that good (they are in the 5th grade) so we constantly helped them. They found out that the magic box contained leaves. Each student got one. The leaves were red, green, and yellow. We grouped the kids according to the color of their leaves.<br /><br />Then we introduced ourselves. Thanx to Eminen we got the kids. We chose the rhythm of "My nane is, My name is, My name is Vicky". They loved it and they did it with pleasure.<br /><br />We had some matching activities. The students prepared colorful handouts. The kids loved them. We were constantly moving and encouraging them to talk.<br /><br />We used a ball to make the learning of the vocabulary more fun. Thanx god, we avoid breaking the vase from the teacher's desk. Other games we used were: the bingo game, word play.<br /><br />The hit of the lesson was the drawing moment. Each kid picked up a word from the new vocabulary they learned and went to to the black board to draw it on the paper we brought. They loved it. I hope I'll have the possibility to post the pictures we took there.<br /><br />The kids were sorry to part with us and they asked us to come next Friday too. So we are looking forward to a new adventure. Next time I'm thinking to deal with school, but i won't tell you what we will have in the magic box this time :)<br /><img src="http://external.ak.fbcdn.net/safe_image.php?d=8661418cf4883472463936c7872d52b8&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblogger.googleusercontent.com%2Ftracker%2F6068847239306731733-9054144637903489540%3Fl%3Dvioricacondrat.blogspot.com" alt="" class="ext_img" onload="var img = this; onloadRegister(function() { adjustImage(img); });" /></div></div>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-22219599290416675722009-10-09T12:38:00.000-07:002009-10-10T05:05:12.578-07:00MY PROJECT WORK IIDispite the hostilities existing between me and the person who is in charge of this<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/StBp8y8VtDI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/NV9q5kRmop8/s1600-h/SDC11401.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/StBp8y8VtDI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/NV9q5kRmop8/s200/SDC11401.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390925247150404658" border="0" /></a> project I love working with those kids. Remeber the magic box? I bought at my own expense 20 notebooks (special thanks to Rafel who also made a contribution) and made a special design for the kids. I think they loved it. The lesson dealt with school supplies. The vocabulary was well chosen. We tried to involve all the four skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking. The kids met a new character: Sylvia (thanks to the girls they had the possibility to visualise her). They wrote in their special notebooks.<br /><br />Here are some more photos from our lesson:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Who Is Sylvia?<br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/StBqrj5oWwI/AAAAAAAAAKY/4MFXyh7_rxk/s1600-h/SDC11387.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; We should aspire to change this world in a never-ending peace-day. It is high time to find the language of understanding and tolerance, and to let aside the language of vain ambitions. Why can't people co-exist peacefully? Why is it so difficult to find a compromise? We are all humans, we breathe the same air, we cherish basically the same things (under different names), why shall we fight? Why not enjoy life together? Why not wonder at the miricle of life together? Why destroy the miracle of life? It is amazing to be the only ones to have brains to think and act according to instincts.<br /><br />The poster I made for the students was meant to make them reconsider their values and beliefs. At leat now they are aware that such a day exist. I asked them: "How can they contribute in order to change the situation?" There is no such answer as: "It's impossible". Remeber: "Charity starts at home". Everything starts from within. And peace comes from within. We are teachers, we are to educate the value of PEACE.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/SreKW8EfAXI/AAAAAAAAAI0/V0pR10nSLh0/s1600-h/SDC11356.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 281px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/SreKW8EfAXI/AAAAAAAAAI0/V0pR10nSLh0/s400/SDC11356.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383924006231409010" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /></div>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-76325643168121896672009-09-20T10:41:00.000-07:002009-09-21T07:24:00.955-07:00GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!!!<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><meta name="ProgId" content="Word.Document"><meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><meta name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5C1B03%7E1.HOM%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:worddocument> <w:view>Normal</w:View> <w:zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:punctuationkerning/> <w:validateagainstschemas/> <w:saveifxmlinvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:ignoremixedcontent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:alwaysshowplaceholdertext>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:compatibility> <w:breakwrappedtables/> <w:snaptogridincell/> <w:wraptextwithpunct/> <w:useasianbreakrules/> <w:dontgrowautofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:browserlevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:latentstyles deflockedstate="false" latentstylecount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} p {mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0cm; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0cm; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:2.0cm 42.5pt 2.0cm 3.0cm; mso-header-margin:36.0pt; mso-footer-margin:36.0pt; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Обычная таблица"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--> <p><span style="" lang="EN-US">Ev'rybody's talking about

<br />
<br />She looked at her enormous bed and the emptiness of the cold white sheets made her shudder.
<br />She was expecting Him for breakfast.
<br />
<br />Water was boiling in the kettle…
<br />She laid the table in a snug, familiar way as if he had always lived there. As usually, he would enter the kitchen, kiss her forehead and have breakfast. He would say nothing. There would be only the sound of the sizzling sausages in the fry pan. It would be her who would have the role of a chatterbox. She would tell him how she wanted to prepare some porridge at first. Then she turned her attention to cornflakes, but it sounded so prosaic. She hesitated a lot between bacon and beefsteak, so it was not a surprise she made some sandwiches during such a trying deliberation. Oh, hadn’t he noticed, she never lost time. She did not even forget to put olive dressing instead of mustard. She knew he hated it! Oh, hadn’t he noticed, she never mixed things. She cut a thin slice of bread and covered it with a thin layer of butter. Oh, but it was so ridiculous to have sandwiches and bread and butter at the same time. They would laugh. She would serve him fried sausages and two boiled eggs. Oh, he was surprised she knew what he liked to have in the morning. She would take that mysterious look so that he saw how many things there were stored for him to discover. She was the undisclosed depth of the ocean where he would like to be drowned in the sweet waters of her love. They would laugh heartily, and then he would ask for a hot cup of coffee. She would jump to bring it. But then she remembered she had run out of coffee…
<br />She was expecting Him for lunch.
<br />
<br />Soup was boiling in the pan…
<br />She laid the table in a proper way. No time for dreams, no time for talk when time is money. He would come and see that she was conscious of how busy he was during that part of the day. She would not even think of interrupting him from work. The plates, the glasses, the spoons, the forks, the knives were placed properly on the table ready to be used. The bread – cut in thin slices, the fresh salad – filled with dressing, the soup – bubbling invitingly, the chicken – winking from the oven. Yes, she had done all by herself. Oh, no trouble at all. She knew he did not eat salad unless it was fresh. She was aware what harm packet soup did to his health. She could not forget he liked to have chicken for lunch. A piece of cake. Oh, hadn’t he noticed… Sorry, no time for that… Of course she understood. Oh, how could she forget to fill the glasses with mineral water? It must have happened when she went to check on the chicken. The glass would be filled in no time. Of course she knew what kind of mineral water he preferred. It was rather expensive, but she would never buy anything he found unwholesome. Oh, hadn’t he noticed… Sorry no time for that. Of course she understood. Would there be anything for desert? Did he need one when he had her? Sorry no time for that… Of course she understood. She would serve him ice cream. Vanilla ice cream? She knew he liked no other. Ouch! The soup was too hot! She would run to bring some cream from the fridge to cool it. But then she remembered she had run out of cream.
<br />She was expecting Him for dinner.
<br />
<br />Blood was boiling in her veins…
<br />She laid the table in a romantic way. She could think of nothing else but: Would he finally notice? The candles were lit and the main courses ready to be served. She would treat him like a special guest, like her only master. Would he fail to enjoy Italian food at the candlelight? He was a connoisseur of the Italian food, so she made sure she did not do anything wrong. He would not be able to hide his surprise. Of course there was no trouble at all. Hadn’t he noticed how she loved to please him? She was a dream come true to every man. He would be so lucky to have her. Hadn’t he noticed he already possessed her? Oh, it was not intended to be said aloud. He would not take advantage of this, would he? That was supposed to remain a secret. He would look into her eyes, and that look would comfort her. It would say to trust him. Oh, how silly of her to bother him with her fears. No, no, no it was wrong. She would not say a word, she would not complain, she would just smile, inviting him to dare to take advantage of her. He would open the bottle of Champaign he was expected to bring with him and they would be drowned in the bubbles of that liquor of love…
<br />And he did come…but not to Her!
<br />She looked at her enormous bed and the emptiness of the cold red sheets made her shudder.

WHEN? WHERE? WHY?</span><br />I do believe that we are not mere teachers of the English language but also of the cultural background of the nations who speak it. That is why I think it is good to mention at least one personality, historic event, etc. at the beginnig of the lesson. To think of a warm-up activity that will be both appealing and instructive. I suggest to use what I have called: "Guess: Who? When? Where? Why?' I've noticed that students love guessing and they always enjoy this activity. With the help of modern technology a teacher may make it even more interesting.<br /><br />The choice of the topic is up to the teacher. As there are various important personalities and significant events, the teacher can find the one wich will fit his/her lesson goals.<br /><br />For example while focusing on modals why not first do this kind of guessing?<br /><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://vhss-d.oddcast.com/voki_embed_functions.php"></script><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">AC_Voki_Embed(100,133,"ed79c0eddc4e5bef6f3823981051e776",1587866, 1, "", 0);</script>Students enjoy it. Depending on their level of proficiency you can challange them to look for other modals in Barack Obama's Speech in the New Hanpshire presidential primary. Ask them to compare them. What kind of meaning do these modals convey? If you have classes with beginners just let them say what each can do. You <span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">CAN</span> think of any activity you like and which will help your students better assimilate the new material.<br /></div>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6068847239306731733.post-21339517827996981162009-07-13T12:57:00.000-07:002009-07-13T13:08:20.318-07:00<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://vhss-d.oddcast.com/voki_embed_functions.php"></script><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">AC_Voki_Embed(300,400,"6fe483902dada382d21aa646d077b740",1587735, 1, "", 0);</script><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><br />GUESS: WHO? It is interesting to discover the mysterious world of the 18th century country lifestyle. The author peoples her book with typical characters of her time but who are still appealing to the reader of the 21st century. That is why I chose this book for my reading class. However, the students read the adapted version because their level of profeciency is that of the begenners. I think they got the idea of the book but above all they managed to understand the true nature of every character.<br /><br />In order to make the reading more appealing I came with several activities such as:<br /><ol><li>miming the character (here the students had to think of a particular trait of a character and try to mime it. Thus, when they presented Mr. Weston they were miming people who have headaches, or Mr. Elton as a very pious man, etc.);</li><li>role-play (several scenes were staged up by the students);</li><li>translation (as I have a group of translators I came with the idea that some of the characters did not know English so they needed translators to understand each other);</li><li>foreshadowing (the students were asked what they thought would happen next);</li><li>the students were asked to imagine themselves in the shoes of certain characters and tell what they would do if they were one of them;</li><li>debates were organized where two characters argued over an issue (e.g. Emma vs. Mr. Knightly: the former pleaded for matchmaking, the latter was against it);</li><li>a talk-show where the main characters took place;</li><li>an imaginary interview with the characters they liked.</li></ol>Their reading was crowned with the final project where they had to present the characters of the novel.<br /><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyeyaJudYUlkg33fzmaO8b-7Cn1hAeRflj-5JXgixh2Go17O64_nkK7qd8fIMEICj9zqyA719UezDRqqYVCxQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/SjumFZjI3WI/AAAAAAAAAF8/GVkR3f2qGzA/s1600-h/SN8516881.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 419px; height: 301px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TCL1jinvOQ0/SjumFZjI3WI/AAAAAAAAAF8/GVkR3f2qGzA/s400/SN8516881.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349051594120420706" border="0" /></a>Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11598700686597536548noreply@blogger.com0
